Monday sennight, at Hot Wells, Bristol, Patrick O'BRIEN, the Irish Giant. This extraordinary man, whose height exceeded eight feet, was born in Kinsale, and had long been a wonder of the age. He was interred in the Catholic Chapel in Trenchard-street,
Bristol. A gentleman had the curiosity to attend, with many others, to see the stupendous coffin, prepared for this remarkable personage, he informa us that its length was nine feet, five inches, and that five men got into it with ease, and had the lid
placed upon it. The brass plate contained the folowing inscription :" Patrick Cotter O'BRIEN, of Kinsale, Ireland, whose stature was 8 feet, one inch. Died Sept. 8, 1806, aged 46 years." There were some emblems on it, denoting the deceased
belonged to the Masonic Order of Knights Templar.

On Thursday morning, about 7 o'clock, William O'BRIEN was murdered by a number of fellows on the high road between Bruff and Kilmallock; it appeared from an inquest held by Charles BENNETT, Esq.Coroner, at Bruff, that the deceased belonged
to one of the factions that disgrace that neighbourhood:- A verdict of wilful merder was returned against two men, who, as they are not yet apprehended, we decline in publishing their names. Notwithstanding the above murder, on the Monday following
not less than 500 ruffians assembled at the fair of Dromin, in battle array - much bloodshed was expected; but for the interference of several gentlemen, and a detachment of the 16th regiment, the disturbers were dispursed and order restored

Extract of a letter for Charleville, dated July 31, 1828:-" A circumstance occurred in this town a few days since, which has not yet found its way into the newspapers. I therefore send it to you for publication. On the day appointed for celebrating
Mr. O'CONNELL's return for the County of Clare, a mob of the lowest description of ruffians assembled, and a riot being considered by several of the Magistrates as likely to ensue, the military were ordered out by Major MAXWELL. A newly made
Magistrate then interfered, and some warm language took place between the two gentlemen. The military, hovever, did eventually turn out, but appeared without arms, and bore green boughs in their hands, and cheered
frequently for Mr. O'CONNELL.Warder.

The Kilmallock Meeting |
Our friends in kilmallock will observe from the overwhelming flow of important matter both from the other side, and as connected with the leading politics of Ireland, that we cannot avoid apologizing to them for again postponing the insertion of the very able speechs delivered by Mr. O'CAVANAGH jun. and Mr. John O'CONNELL at the late somutaneous meeting; but they may depend upon their appearing on Tuesdaythey well deserve a place.

The Ellection Bruff:By a communication we had on Saturday from Bruff, it is highly creditable to the Freeholders, in that district, to find, that although disposed to support their Noble Landlord in that quarter, when any member of his own family solicits their support. Yet, that they consider they would cease to be 'Freeholders,' were they to be transferable like the black cattle they are feeding to pay his Lordship's rent, to sustain the epherneral pretentions of a stranger. The address by Mr. W. J. O'CONNELL, on Friday, explained these claims, at the same time as pointing them out, nay, and, to their wives also, the bold and dauntless spirit, which has given Waterford, Louth, Westmeath, and above all, immortalized Clare, as the Athens of Irish Liberty.

A few days ago, that very useful and active officer, John O'CONNOR, Esq. detected a woman in the town of Charleville in the act of stealing a quantity of supruous pepper. By a general system of vigulance and activity on the part of Officers of his
Majesty's Revenue, similar to that evinced by Mr. O'CONNOR, on this and every other occasion, these prisioners of society will speedily be obliged to abandon their nefarious traffic; or suffer the just and heavy penalties of the law.
