Creating Tags in DIP 7 and 10

Open a New Document and size it to 2.5 wide x 4 high.
Insert/Shape. No line. I selected the Rounded Square
Format/Resize Object to Fit Canvas/Stretch to Fit
To make it easier to see what you are doing, fill it with any colour for now.
Using the square mover at the top of the shape, shrink it down a little.

Made a duplicate: Ctrl d. DIP7 Centre the duplicate: Format/Centre Object on canvas.
Make it a different colour so you can easily see what you are doing.
Keeping the duplicate (top) layer selected, resize by holding down the Shift key and dragging the bottom right corner toward the centre so it is narrower then drag it to the top of your canvas.

Keeping the top layer selected recolour to match the bottom layer.
Lock the layers together:
DIP7: Hold down the Ctrl key and click on each layer then click on the little puzzle piece.
DIP10: You will "flatten" the layers: Hold down the Ctrl key and select each layer. Now right click on the stack and select "flatten selected objects".
Make a Hole for threading ribbon or adding eyelets:

Go to Effects/Transparent Fade/Transparency BrushDIP10 Go to Effects/Transparency/Transparency Brush
Select Hard Edge, 100% transparency and select your brush size.
Position your curser toward the top and left click once.
Done.

You now have a basic tag template you can use over and over.
Save it as tagtemplate.png
To Use Your Template:
With your tag template open
Right click and "copy" then:
DIP7: Open a new canvas and size at 2.5 wide x 4 high then right click on your new canvas and "paste" your template. Close the original.
DIP10: Open a new canvas. It will be automatically sized the same as your copied tag. Right click on your canvas and "paste" your template. Close the original.
Colour your tag:
To colour match with a background:
File/Open and select your background.
Go to the stack and click on your tag to make it the active project.
Using the left mouse button, drag your background onto the work area next to your tag.

Click on your tag to make it the active layer then:
Effects/Fill With Texture or Colour/More solid colour choices and use the eye dropper to select a colour from your background. Adjust with the colour wheel. Select Done.

Now remove the background. Click on it to make it active and then click on
the little scissors icon on the toolbar. ![]()
You can now add texture by using the paintbrush, filters or Plug-ins (DIP9/10 only). See samples below.

Save as png.
You can now make a basic tag. Experiment with different shapes and textures. Mostly, have fun!
