Making A Slide Template in DIP7 & 10

Ó kimlizzy 2004

This tutorial is in detailed step by step instructions with the beginner in mind.

TO MAKE A TEMPLATE TO USE OVER AND OVER:

Open a new canvas and size to suit. I made mine 2"x2".

Insert shape> choose the rounded square.

Click on the arrow next to the bucket and select a medium grey.

Remove the line.

Click on the arrow and then select "more" then "none".

Resize to fit the canvas: Format>resize object to fit canvas>stretch to fit

Duplicate your shape: Ctrl+D

IN DIP7: Format>centre object on canvas

Keeping this top layer selected, change the colour to white.

Using the resizing squares, alter the shape to suit.

You will now lock the two layers together: Holding down the Ctrl key, click on each layer in the stack then right click on the stack and select Group (DIP7) or Lock (DIP10). Alternatively you can select both layers and then click on the little puzzle piece underneath your work.

Now you will delete the white centre:

In DIP7: Format>Create a Cutout>By Colour Selection. Using the eyedropper, click on the grey area. It will turn purple.

Click Next. Then Done.

You can now select the bottom layer on the stack, right click on it and select Delete.

Save your template as png.

In DIP10: Using the Magic Wand, select the white section.

Click on the Object Arrow . Now right click on the white section and select Delete.

Save as png.

TO USE YOUR TEMPLATE:

In DIP7:

Open your template, right click and copy. Close the original. Open a new canvas and change the size to 2x2". Paste your template.

In DIP10: Open your template, right click and copy. Close the original. Open a new canvas. It is automatically sized to suit. Right click and Paste.

FILL YOUR SLIDE WITH A COLOUR

For this exercise you will fill ;your slide with a colour.

Effects>Fill with Colour or Texture. Select one of the colours from the colour palette. Select Done.

To Bevel the slide I used Eye Candy 3000 Plug-In:

Effects>Plug-in Filters>Eye Candy 3000

Select Inner Bevel then Launch Plug-in. I used the following settings:

Bevel width: 18

Bevel shape: Button

Smoothness: 10

Shadow Depth: 5

Highlight Brightness: 66

Highlight Sharpness: 77

Lighting Direction: 124

Lighting Inclination: 55

Click on the Tick.

Select Done.

Save as png.

Done!

You can now play around with other fills for your slide:

Before Bevelling:

Fill with a gradient

Add text

Fill your slide with a picture from your computer

Add clipart

Use the Filters option in DIP.

Have fun!
