This tutorial assumes you have a working knowledge of DIP.
Open a new canvas and size to suit.
Insert text: Text>Insert Shaped Text, make your selection and type in the word you require.
**You can also do the letters separately if you want to make a full alphabet.
Select your font: Text>Font. Large fonts work best. I chose Boulder.

Colour you text: Effects>Fill with Colour or Texture.

Now add texture: Effects>Filters>All Filters>Texturiser and select the texture you like. Click on Change Advanced Options to adjust the size and depth of the effect.

We will now add the outline:
Effects>Edges>Highlighted Edges>Thin Over>Customise the Edge.
Select your colour and edge thickness.

Next you will apply a bevel:
Effects>Plug-ins>Eye Candy>Bevel Boss
Choose the look you like. Play around with the settings until you have something you like. I chose Mesa for this example.
