Using Multiple Filters to make Bacgrounds in DIP
Ó 2005 kimlizzy
There are a lot of great filter effects in DIP but you don’t have to restrict yourself to using one at a time. With a little experimentation you can achieve some great effects using two or more filters. Starting with a gradient fill can also add dimension to your backgrounds. I have made a few examples to give you an idea of what can be created.
Open a new canvas and size to suit.
Insert a shape/square/no line and resize to fit.
Click on the Paint Bucket and select Gradient

Select a colour pattern from the dropdown box then select a style.

Now go to Effects/filters/all and select MURAL.
Click on "change advanced options" and play around with the size, coverage and brush.
The style you select will effect how the pattern will appear on your background.
In the example below I used the following settings:

Here is the same gradient using the BUMPS AND CRATERS filter with the flower brush

Changing the gradient colour and style will give a more subtle effect.
In the example below I used the following gradient with the MURAL brush.

In the first example below I started with a monotone chalked background I had made previously. I used the MURAL filter with the Spiral brush. In the second example I added the TEXTURE filter.

In the next example I started with a plaid background and used the following settings with the MURAL filter:

If you want a white background use the "FINGER PAINT" or "SAND STORM" filter. Example below.

With the many filters available in DIP the possibilities are endless when you combine two or more filters. Experiment with them and see what great effects you come up with.
