The Landship

Very little is known of the insectoid J'Deet. They appear to be a peacable race, more concerned weith the gathering of scientific knowledge than warfare. J'Deet military vessels have rareley been encountered, however their fleets seem to be organiseda round carrier craft known as 'Locust Mothers' which carry swarms of tiny 'Locust' attack craft. Enourmous numbers of these tiny, presumably AI controlled craft are carried and can be launched rapidly. It would appear that they are controled by the Mother ship as it's destruction causes great confusion in the Locusts.

The Model

Ever since I built the J'Deet Mantis long range survey ship, I've been wondering what a J'Deet war ship would look like. This is the result.
The J'Deet Locust Mother is a large carrier style craft, which carries swarms of tiny drone fighters, known as 'Locusts.'
The model is basically the nose section of an old BSG Viper which I'd mauled pretty badly as an enthusiastic 14 year old. I used a tie interceptor pylon to form the basis of the drive section. The wings and fins come from a variety of 1/144 scale planes, including an F-18, and an SU-27.I garnished the model with a sprinkling of random bits, toys and plasticard, and finished it off with a set of the J'Deet's characteristic flat panel sensor arrays made from plasticard. Since I've just left home, and the Mantis was still at my parents place (It's sort of fragile, so I didn't want to pack it in anything) I didn't have it around for reference to the J'Deet style, but since the Locust Mother is a warship, and the Mantis a survey vessel, I figured they would look fairly different anyway.
