Post Apocalyptic Chevy Custom |
|
The Car:The 1974 model Chevy Chevelle 454 was a real brute of a Muscle car, especially after the customizes added super chargers and other engine mods. After the Muscle Car Apocalypse it became an invaluable weapon in the on going battle for food and fuel. The Model:This is the first model car kit I ever bought (but not the first I built, that was a Tamiya Morgan 4/4 I was given for my birthday). I remember being a touch apprehensive because up until that point I had only ever worked on Tamiya models which are very good. My brother was often wont to complain about the poor quality and fit of American kits, but I didn't need to worry because this one was a very nice kit. I bought the car specifically in order to build a Mad Max style car, and that's just what I did! I added spikes, cut away part of the roof, built anit-greande screens over the windows, and dirtied everything down. There was a spiked gun ring for a harpoon launcher on the roof and a spare tyre bolted to the boot. There was a big knife sheathed on the dash, and spare parts in the back seat. Anyway, the car sort of sat around for a very long time and got dustier and dustier while parts fell off and went missing until 2007, when I rebuilt it and entered it into the Starship Modeler Wrecks contest! I loved building this car, so I went out and got another right away. This time a 1957 Chevy. It was a much older kit, and of much lower quality so I had more trouble building it. Just went to prove that all those things my brother said were true -but only of older american models! I have some old hard-copy pics around somewhere, but I need to find them before I can scan them. Have patience. |
