The Ship:

The Stanhope class of system patrol vessels are employed throughout the galactic confederacy for local defense and police actions. They are small but heavily armed and lack hyper-drives.

The Model:

This is the last of my first mad flurry of scratch build space ships. Partially inspired by the Warpstorm IV's cockpit, and partially inspired by what ever junk I had lying around.

The main body of the ship is a plumbing end cap stuck on a coke can. The rest is a mixture of plasticard and cardboard with various bits of packing material for good measure. I seasoned well with a sprinkling of random bits and sprayed everything grey. In the early days I wasn't much of a one for variety in paint jobs, most things were just plain grey...

The ship is not quite symmetrical because I couldn't find two of some of the parts, and then there's the whole wonky construction issue to contend with.

I named it after a local street - at the time I had a habit of naming things after local streets and places after I read an article on running necromunda campaigns which suggested it as a good way to make the camapign seem more personal.

The model is nominally in 1/48th scale based on the figures which I added. I actually went out and bought a whole Hasegawa ground crew set just for two figures! Looking at it now, it seems far to small. How the hell could it possibly carry enough fuel and supplies? Ah well, when you are a kid you don't bother about those sorts of things...
