Alot
of work had to be done, once restoration was started on the Sandman.
20years of life next to the ocean, or pulling our boat out of it constantly
had started to take its toll.
You
can see from the earlier photos, taken in July 2001, that the panelvan
was originally Mint Julip in colour, but was without the trademark
decals. Many people assume that it is not a genuine Sandman due to
this fact, but you could order them without the decals, but still
got all the GTS options back in the day. The cars certificate verifys
that the car is infact a genuine Sandman, produced in Adelaide.
These
restoration images were taken at Rabor Smash Repair, where the first
work started in July 2001. I cant thank John Borich and his staff
there enough, for the effort and time that went into the Sandman.
