Jay Wheelock
Pilbara/Kimberley Bioregion
Jay Wheelock has been living in Dampier for the past ten years. In that time he has been a committee member of the Nickol Bay Sport Fishing Club for the past 8 years and is currently the club's Tagging Coordinator for the past four years. He has also been a key organiser of the Dampier Billfish Shoot-out.
He is a keen sport fisher targeting a wide variety of species including game fish and has fished the "Barra Classic" in the Northern Territory for the past three years.
Jay travels and fishes throughout Western Australia however he has a very good understanding of the challenges affecting the Pilbara Kimberley and Gascoyne regions. He takes a keen interest in issues affecting recreational fishing in Western Australia and has assisted with various research tagging projects undertaken by Murdoch University and the Department of Fisheries.
Jay was elected unopposed to the Recfishwest Board in October 2009 as the Pilbara/Kimberley Bioregional Board member for a 2 year term.
