Archived page, Questionnaire and Results:- Priorities for Integrated Fisheries Management.
Hello all
Following is a list of fisheries that MAY be considered for Integrated
Fisheries Management in the next 5 years. Recfishwest is asking
you for your views on your top 5 priorities. The following fisheries
are from the Department of Fisheries as potential candidates
for Integrated Fisheries Management assessment.
Please note that many of these fisheries may be better dealt with
by direct management planning or though direct negotiation with
the commercial fishing industry. The integrated fisheries process
will assess the historic and future fishing effort by commercial,
recreational and indigenous fishers and then make a recommendation
about the explicit catch share in that fishery. The integrated fisheries
process cannot explicitly deal with spatial or area separations,
these will be dealt with as part of the implementation of the integrated
fisheries recommendations and ongoing management of these and any
other fishery.
Therefore you may wish to comment on the fisheries that you feel
require specific MANAGEMENT reforms separately below.
Your assistance is greatly appreciated as it helps to guide Recfishwest
in the areas that require Integrated Fisheries attention.
The results of your input will be published on the Web site along
with the Recfishwest final recommendations.
Thanks for your time.
