Recfishwest is Western Australia's peak recreational and sportfishing body. It represents the interests of more than 600,000 Western Australians who go fishing and is recognised in this capacity by the Government of Western Australia, the WA Department of Fisheries and other government departments and authorities.

Recreational fishing is one of the major attractions for holidaymakers visiting the Busselton region. For many years the Busselton jetty has been a landmark for recreational fishers in the south west. The jetty represents one of the few structures along our coastline that provides shore-based recreational anglers with safe access to deeper water and the various species that can be found there. The jetty provides an easily accessible and stable platform that is patronised annually by many senior and junior anglers holidaying in the region. This is particularly the case for family oriented fishing activities.

Recfishwest acknowledges the commendable outcome with respect to access by recreational fishers to the 'end of the jetty'. We also applaud the Council's willingness to take responsibility for the restoration of the damaged end section of this historic jetty

The Jetty represents one of the few remaining structures of its kind in Western Australia and is highly valued by our constituency, local stakeholders and tourists alike.
