Q&A Session with Nana. Not exact quotes, sorry. Comments in [ ] are mine.

What she wore

Maroon leather short jacket, matching silk (?) slacks, patterned shirt.
Q: Movies?
A: I would have said absolutely not. DS9 has always been "in the middle". But
now we're hearing other things. Probably not a DS9 movie, but perhaps the
   station, Defiant and/or characters.

The set is incredible! The detail is unbelievable [and lots more, but
   we're heard about this before]

Q: How and why did you marry Sid?
A: I remember taking a picnic lunch and Buster and going to the beach. I asked
Siddig if he wanted to come along (he never did before) and sure enough,
there he is! Stereotypical romantic setting. And there's Siddig, running
down the beach playing with Buster. A really sappy movie! And I realized
that there really was something about this man!
[And we're heard the rest of this story before, too.]

Q: Will there be more Kira & Odo romantic interludes?
A: I don't want this love story to have a happy ending. I don't want us to
be "Mr & Mrs Cleaver" of the station!

Q: How and why was "Fever" selected for the chanteuse number? And why was there
a choreographer listed in the credits?
[This was my question and I think she liked it.]
A: I don't know [about the choreographer]. I did all of it, including the dance
   with Rene.

The original song was [Gershwin's] "Our love is here to stay". But I wanted
something more sultry. Doris Duke [tobacco heiress] was a great friend of
my mother's. I remember "Auntie Doris" doing this number at the piano when
   I was 6 or 7.

There's a tv movie coming up soon about her - you've got to watch it. Doris
loved life and wanted to try everything. [long and wonderful story but
I didn't get all of it]

Q: Do you find the writers are writing events from your life?
A: There is some type of synergy, and not just with DS9. Things happen to my
character that happen to my character at home. Wait a minute! To *me*
in my life at home, not my character! [audience laughs]

Q: The Intendant?
A: I worry that people think I'm having too much fun. I could never play that
character all the time. The Intendant is capable of really horrible things.
I hate violence. But there is a time and place for it - but take all
the romance out of violence - don't glorify it.

I liked the most recent episode because it gets the Intendant back in
the game. She's back and everyone better watch out!

Q: Favorite guest star?
A: Louise Fletcher. She's the sweetest person. I wasn't sure about Adrienne
Barbeau - but she's really charming and very cool!

Q: How tall are you?
A: 5' 8". I did not ask for the high heels. But they said I looked short
with everyone else being tall. And then comes Nicole. So I guess you
can either be tall or short - but not in the middle!

Q: How has 2 kids changed your life?
A: It's not just twice the work, it's exponential! Really hard being a mom
and working. I have to go to work even when I don't want to. Even if
Dad is there with them, I still feel bad when I leave. I don't
compartmentalize well. And I don't get a lot of sleep.

Q: Have you/will you take your kids to a con?
A: I took Buster once when he was small. He did an imitation of me with the
microphone. That's it - no more! He's not going to be happy that he didn't
come along this time because he's never seen snow. But he's getting a
   beanie baby from here!

And he's getting requests at school, "Momma, everyone at school wants
   to meet you!"

Q: Did the writers do any research on the name Kira Nerys?
A: None. But there's lots of female dogs named Kira now. And a few girls.

Q: What's next?
A: I had been doing auditions and interviews but my agent died a couple
weeks ago. [The next day during the Rene & Nana show, turns out that
the two of them now have the same agent.] I need to stay local but
would love to do Broadway again.

Q: What about the local LA theater?
A: Disappointing. It's a bunch of actors who want to get a TV pilot. But
   I love working with Rene.

Q: Any new hair styles for Sid?
A: No - they won't let me! He's a very proper Englishman, and I really think
it was good for him. My dream job - in charge of the makeovers for
   Mademoiselle magazine!

Q: Why isn't DS9 closed captioned? Voyager is?
A: [turns out it's a local station decision, Nana didn't know this]
Well, Voyager is on a network, we're syndicated. They have more money.
They also have a better coke machine!

Q: What's your favorite hairstyle after all these years?
A: [story about Sid's movie about Dorn at the Christmas party] The company
put together a montage of scenes from all the episodes. I had "morphing
hair". It was never the same!

Q: Favorite episode?
A: It's still "Duet", even after all these years. It made me consider loss
of life on a huge scale.

Q: Why the Holosuite Alamo?
A: Siddig's a huge fan of computer games. I still don't know how to work
   the VCR!

Q: How has the show changed with Nicole?
A: It's something new for the writers to play with. I miss Terry, shame they
couldn't split the worm or something.

Q: Have the writers done something against type?
A: I love the psychology of characters. The ending of [the episode with Kira's
mother] was one of forgiveness. I violently opposed that ending. With
all that Kira's been thru, all the violence and death, she wouldn't have
been very understanding or forgiving of her mother. You win some, you
lose some. I only held up production once. Ira and I are two New Yorkers
and we shout at each other. It's just the way we are!

Q: Will Dukat die at the end?
A: It's gotten back to me that if anyone kills Dukat, it'll be Sisko, after
all, he's the lead! But if there's a movie, you don't want to remove
a possible character. (From the audience - me - "But no one really dies
on Star Trek!") Nana: Right - they just go onto sitcoms! [audience laughs
   at reference to Terry].

Q: What hasn't happened that you'd like to see? What needs to be wrapped up?
A: O'Brien's baby. I really wanted more about what happens to Kira and to
Keiko. They really need a female writer. [She mentions that Buster now
   has a stepmom].

Q: What's your background?
A: I've done just about everything. Dancer, actor, soaps, lots of TV. Just
watch late night TV and you'll see me in every type of hairstyle!

I'm like a plumber - get another job.

[at this point a baby started crying. 9 months old, adorable, dressed in
TNG uniform. Nana goes into the audience to see her]

Q: Could you do the characters from Night Court?
A: I really don't remember the characters themselves, just that it was lots
of fun. The writers kept coming in with new scenes with different
characters. "Do John Wayne this time, Nana", and I would.

Q: How about the romance of Kira & Bariel?
A: People die on TV for a reason. The romance was over before he died on
   the show.

[At this point Rene walks onto the stage and after a few moments, Nana
   leaves].

Rene: I would have let her stay up here, but she had the mic. I'd never
   get a word in!
